NextGen Lifesavers
NextGen Lifesavers is a Royal Life Saving initiative for a Queensland youth-based aquatic water safety education project designed to:
- Promote lifesaving sport
- Improve water safety and lifesaving skills amongst 8-17 year olds in Queensland
Royal Lifesaving’s goal is to deliver the NextGen Lifesavers Project to Queenslanders aged 8-17 years.
NextGen Lifesavers aims to engage children 8+ years in a series of educational and enjoyable activities centered around pool lifesaving sports skills and become the next generation of lifesavers in their communities. The project equips participants with essential lifesaving techniques and fosters values such as responsibility, teamwork and leadership.
Participation in the program also serves as a pathway to a rewarding aquatic career for young people. Pool Lifesaving Sport can lead participants into various careers including professional lifeguarding, swim teaching and coaching, aquatic facility management, and even competitive lifeguarding at national and international levels. These career pathways provide opportunities for personal growth and development but also contribute to the safety and well-being of communities.
